They say every face in a crowd has a story to tell, this is my story..

The news shows and newspapers all called it 'Road Rage'. To me that sounded like a disease, an affliction that can make you kill. A sorry excuse to take the claw end of a hammer and slam it repeatedly into the skull of a human being. In April of 1999 my little brother passed away. Doesn't passed away sound so gentle, even normal? David's death was neither. It was murder. He was found lying in a strangers driveway in a pool of blood. He had been punched, stomped and beaten over his entire body. I still have so many questions. I wrote this book at first for therapy and then for answers. I have found a few. I mainly realized l lost a brother tragically and senselessly. Like every other face in the crowd I have a story..and I want to share my story with you! PUBLICATION DATE TO BE ANNOUNCED LATE SUMMER/EARLY FALL :)

Friday Fragments...

beautiful sky!

I took this on the back of the motorcycle..

I am so sad to say goodbye to summer!
Well John and I are certainly making up for our lost summer..last weekend it was the beach for some much needed R & R and the weather was beautiful! We ate at our favorite Pizza Place (Too much)

Our new favorite boardwalk store..
We took a few motorcycle rides the nights were still warm enough for me.
The best Pizza in the world!!
Then she had to take an important call from her sister..
Adriana proudly showed me how she makes her Teddy bear sing
On the way home from the beach we stopped at my daughter Joan's house. I was really missing the kids.
You all know there has to be some drama in here somewhere right?
So we got home Monday night; I went to work Tuesday morning and half way through my shift I could hardly move. Stomach pain. I swore my gall bladder had just blown up or something. I finished my shift (yes I am crazy like that)
Then I went to my doctors office. She sent me for an ultrasound the next day at 7am (ugghh) and then I waited. At 3:00 she called and said to go to the ER. That was just a great experience. We arrived at 3:10pm and there was no one in the waiting room. We could not be that lucky! We left at 3am with a diagnosis of diverticulitis.  It is not infected so I should be feeling better in a few days. I did not eat well while we were at the beach and I know better..oh well..So here we are at Friday again and I hope you will join our lovely host; Mrs.4444 here:www.halfpastkissintime.com  You will not be disappointed!
When you are finished there be sure to stop by at Java's (if you are over 40) she is the host of  Bloggers over 40 and you can find her and a lot of friends here:http://nevergrowingold.blogspot.com

P.S. I am just wondering if you still remember where you were when you heard the 9/11 news. Do you remember how you felt?

  2. Glad you enjoyed your vacation. I loved being only 3 hours from the beach when i lived in PA, but, now I am in heaven because I live 30 min from the beaches of Lake Michigan. There is a saying out here...we have white sandy seclude beach's here too but without the salt ;-)

  3. When I heard the news of 9-11, I was with a friend leaving East TN State University Nurse Practitioner classes. A girl went screaming down the hallway and we just stood in amazement and questioned what was wrong with HER? As we left the parking lot we noticed kids from the dorms hauling baskets of clothes and junk from their dorms to their cars, which was a strange time to be doing so; it took forever to get out of the parking lot since everyone was leaving at the same time. Finally, the announcement came on the radio while we sat in the parking lot. What a strange and sad day.

  4. Love the pictures and your grandaughter is a beauty.

I can sympathize with the diverticulitis.. took 12 hours for my diagnosis in the ER the first time I had it... never heard of it not being infected..so lucky you didn't have to have the nasty drugs...good luck and thanks for stopping by.

  5. Oh, I remember the fear of 9/11 and the guilt that I already scheduled delivery of my new car that day. As I sat in the dealership glued to the tv, I wondered how I could possibly be doing something exciting for myself.

  6. Love the beach pics! I am sure glad you're still having great weather for beach days, we are too even though it's a bit cooler (Thankfully since the humidity causes the asthma I have to flair up.)

So sorry to hear about your diagnosis. That can be a real pain. Hope they can get you on a regime that makes it easier for you.

  8. Hi Doreen-- I am still devastated everyday all over again by 9/11... especially since nothing's been rebuilt at the site yet, nine years later, and what they are considering building is just a travesty of justice. I agree with another commenter: I lost my hope in humanity that day, and each day my hope grows dimmer, sorry to say. My heart is full for you, and your loss as well. No one should ever have to go through what you did. Bless your heart- Take Care- Ann

  9. Hello! I came over from Mrs4444 and am so delighted that I did. Your book sounds wonderful even with the subject not so. I applaud you for working through this tragedy in such a way that others may benefit from yoru experience.

On 9/11/01, I had just arrived at the preschool where I worked and had to hold it all in so as not to upset the children. It was a very numb day for many of us.

    Thanks for a great post!

  10. Sounds like you had fun traveling. Hope you are feeling better.

I didn't even realize it was 9-11 already. My son was about 3 weeks old, so I was home. I spent all day watching the news which may not have been a good idea. Then I called my mom and started crying about how I don't want my husband or my son to be drafted into a war. She said no worries honey, we won't be at war that long.

Ha! That's what we both thought. So now I guess I can start earnestly worrying that in about 9 years my son might be drafted. Fun!
