They say every face in a crowd has a story to tell, this is my story..

The news shows and newspapers all called it 'Road Rage'. To me that sounded like a disease, an affliction that can make you kill. A sorry excuse to take the claw end of a hammer and slam it repeatedly into the skull of a human being. In April of 1999 my little brother passed away. Doesn't passed away sound so gentle, even normal? David's death was neither. It was murder. He was found lying in a strangers driveway in a pool of blood. He had been punched, stomped and beaten over his entire body. I still have so many questions. I wrote this book at first for therapy and then for answers. I have found a few. I mainly realized l lost a brother tragically and senselessly. Like every other face in the crowd I have a story..and I want to share my story with you! PUBLICATION DATE TO BE ANNOUNCED LATE SUMMER/EARLY FALL :)

Friday Fragments

Where do I start? Michael (my stepson) was in a motorcycle accident 3 weeks ago and continues to be in critical condition in ICU. The good news is he woke up yesterday and recognizes everyone and can shake his head yes or no. Because of the ventilator he still cannot speak. Thank you to all who have sent good thoughts and prayers his way..they are working..now to just get out of ICU would really put my mind at ease!
Yesterday my family had yet another trauma; my 8 year old grandson Dominic had a 50 pound pole go through his leg..Miraculously no bones were broken and 80+ stitches later; he will be okay. He is in a lot of pain and very scared but he will be fine! I put a photo of him and Michael all the way down and while you are scrolling down there you will see the link to the wonderful Mrs.4444 who hosts Friday Fragments every week and also a link for over 40 bloggers!
While my husband and I have been occasionally going to work and spending every other second at the hospital; our 2 dogs are being terrible. They have a doggy door and our homeless lady to make sure they have food and water but they have now peed on every pair of shoes I own and all over the house. Do you think they want me to stay home? LOL!
I am so behind in my writing and blogging and am so sorry I will be back to visit all of you real soon; I promise..
My garden is growing like crazy and I have barely had 2 minutes to give it any attention..the rotten squirrels are eating my tomatoes and I do not have any time to go get anything to keep them away..maybe this weekend I can send someone..
Baby Peyton is already 6 weeks old and Adriana is walking..My sweet daughter brought her to the hospital so I could see her walk just when I needed a smile the most..

  9. Well DANG Girlfriend, you've got quite a full plate there. I'd say this black cloud hanging over your family's head needs to get pushed away big time. Many prayers to your step-son, but at least he's awake now to help the healing. Your poor grandson goodness I hope he's going to be alright too! This homeless person you gave her a roof over her head maybe she could start picking up some slack for you like at least chasing away the squirrels for heavens sake. How old is she? Thanks for stopping by. Your family & especially you are in my prayers & wishes of good things for you. I am your latest follower. Nice to meet you my friend. Take care. I'll be back to read some of these goings on.

  10. Oh my goodness!! You have been put through the wringer! Our oldest son's best friend (like our own son) was hit by a tractor trailer about a month ago...also almost died, and had to have his leg amputated. Being on the road anymore is so scary!! Sending my prayers for your stepson and your grandson!

Thanks for stopping by for Follow Friday 40 and Over! I'm already following you with all of my blogs. :)

  12. @XMAS Dolly, our homeless lady is 83 and I did a post on her called "the stranger in my recliner" there you can get the low down on Sophie!
@Tree; I feel like I have been rung out. What a horrible tragedy for your son's friend and yes it is so scary being on the road these days and being in the ICU just brings up horrific memories for me of my own brother..I will be so happy once he is stable enough to be out of there!
@Matty; right now I have no choice but to let it grow and I am looking forward to enjoying it one day soon!

  22. Doreen,
Thanks for visiting my wordpress blog through Over 40 Blog Hop. When I came over here today, I realized that I'd been here Friday was a week ago. I began following you through my blogspot blog that day(it's easier).
I am so sorry that so much trauma is in your life at this time, but it sounds like things are heading in the right direction :)but I am sorry about the latest accident!
Bless your poor doggie babies. They surely don't understand...
You mentioned in your comment that you were trying to figure out how to follow my blog (Reflections..by Kathy) To add it to your blog list, you go to blogger dashboard, click design tab, click my bloglist, type in the address http://www.edshunnybunny.wordpress.com, then click add to list. It's a little more complicated since this blog is on wordpress instead of blogspot.
I follow your blog--and all blogspot blogs through my 2nd blog which is on blogspot, because it's easier for me. I am known as maddie/cadesmimi on that blog. I know, why can't things be simple???
My prayers go out to you and your family. May things continue on an upward trend!

  26. Doreen,
My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. So much senseless pain and grief. I am glad to hear that your family members are improving.

The pups are worried you are lost they want you to find your way home. But it is one more frustration you could do without.

When I was in the hospital they allowed him to bring one of our rovers to see me. Did us both a world of good. As your step son heals they might allow a visit in the courtyard if there is one. Pet therapy is so very powerful.

I am your newest follower. Thanks for commenting on my post at http://bridgingmemories.blogspot.com

If you would like some chuckles one of my other blogs has many stories of "Baby" and her antics. Baby is our black lab puppy http://windows2mylife.blogspot.com

  27. Doreen, You dear sweet person. With all your pain, work, and grief, you stopped and commented on my blog. Things seem to pile up in bunches but thank goodness where there's a peak, there's a valley. I can see the mountains from my window and have often thought about the majestic peaks. If those little valleys were not in-between, there would be no mountains ..... just one long ridge. Your valley will soon give you respite. Good luck to you.

  29. Oh, what a stressful time you're having! You deserve to have someone pack up a nice afternoon tea, with all the pretty sandwiches and cookies, and bring it down to the hospital so you can have a little something special to help get you through. So glad there's some good news in all of this!

  37. I found your blog finally. I knew I should so I pursued it. I have a brother that was murdered too.....in his home...shot. I am praying for your sweet grandson. I had to laugh at the dogs peeing on your shoes. I had one that would punish me by peeing in my closet. He would wait until I returned home first and then...go pee.
